Presentation of the AfroGreeks at the Afroeuropean Conference in Brussels and hosting a round table discussion titled: Research and community-engagement through artistic initiatives

The Afroeuropean Conference takes place every two years as an academic, activist, and intellectual space centering Blackness in Europe-including, but not limited to, Black identity, Black art, Black politics and Black struggle. This is a conference for, by, and with Afroeuropeans with the contribution of their allies in dialogue with other marginalized groups. Grace Nwoke’s panel discission proposal and academic paper presentation were accepted and the video, the AfroGreeks – prologue, 2015-2019 was screened during the Conference.
The title of the round table discussion was: Research and community-engagement through artistic initiatives. Natasa Chanta Maartin was invited to partcipate representing the ANASA Cultural Center of African Arts from Greece and Menelaos Karamaghiolis was invited to represent the Døcumatism team in a discussion moderated by Grace Nwoke, regarding how 2 organizations actively engaged with the African communities in Greece use art as a tool to raise awareness, promote discussions on crucial social issues, and explore the needs of a specific local community, aiming at giving the community visibility and empowering it. The discussion was based on the audiovisual material prepared by Døcumatism.
