REMEMBER THIS SONG | public action Black History Month 2025
25 April 2025 – Olympia City Music Theatre – Maria Callas
The protagonists of the ongoing collective project the AfroGreeks are creating a musical performance dedicated to Afro-American writer, essayist, playwright, and activist James Baldwin, on the occasion of the 101st anniversary of his birth.
Afro-Greek artists will “take over” the Olympia City Music Theatre – Maria Callas, welcoming spring and inviting Athenians to actively participate in a musical dialogue. Through the use of moving images, the performance highlights the different ways in which tradition influences the creation of musical identity—enriching it in such a way that it transcends the borders of its place of origin.
Starting from James Baldwin’s writings and the songs he loved, the Afro-Greeks are staging a performance with unpredictable musical arrangements, poems, and dance interventions, inaugurating Black History Month 2025.
